How to Measure Honey, Maple Syrup and Other Sticky Ingredients

Honey, maple syrup, molasses, corn syrup — they are delicious, dense, and a nightmare to measure. They stick to everything and you always wonder if you got the right amount. These tricks fix that.

Trick 1: Spray the Cup with Oil First

Spray the inside of your measuring cup with cooking spray before adding honey or syrup. The sticky ingredient slides right out cleanly. This eliminates 90% of the mess.

Trick 2: Measure by Weight in Grams

Place a bowl on your scale, zero it (tare), and pour in honey until you reach the right weight. No sticky cups, no guessing. Use our honey grams to cups page to find the gram equivalent.
